Captain Marvel will Begin Production in January 2018

Captain Marvel is the first female led movie that Marvel studios will put out, and while we still have to wait on plot details, a director, and even the rest of the cast around lead Brie Larson, we were treated to some news today.
According to My Entertainment World, a website that shows when and where movies are filming and posts casting calls for extras, Captain Marvel will begin filming in January of 2018.

While this does seem like a great distance away, you have to remember where this movie is slated for release in comparison to everything else Marvel will be putting out. Between now and Captain Marvel we will be seeing 6 full feature-length superhero blockbusters. This leaves Marvel fans plenty of content until they get to see Brie Larson take to the skies as the Mighty Captain Marvel. – Jake Sitarski
