Tom Holland in for the Long Haul When it Comes to Spider-Man

Spider-Man Homecoming is just a little over two months out and as one would expect, we are starting to see the ramp up of marketing. In the newest edition of Empire magazine, we get a lot of insight into the behind the scenes of the newest addition to Spider-Man’s film repertoire. In one such interview, Tom Holland hints at what he hopes to be the future for this iteration of Spider-Man.

“Peter Parker is a character we see [in the comic books] as a 15-year-old boy and then as a 35-year-old man. So I have an idea of what I’d like to do, and I’ve pitched it and it’s already been taken into the boardroom. It would be really cool if it pans out, because it means I would be Spider-Man for a very long time.”

Strong words for such a young actor. To want to be tied to a franchise so far into the future is quite the time-commitment. If this is true we could see a lot of fan-favorite storied be brought to life on the big screen that require an older Peter Parker, such as his job at Horizon Labs and of course, his marriage.

Regardless of how Tom feels in 20 years, or if the studio has similar plans to his, it is reassuring to hear that he has such a strong passion and connection to the character. It was quite evident in the little bit that we saw on screen in Captain America: Civil War.
